There I was, scouring the craigslist housing ads, trying to get away from a really bad landlord and I was avoiding listings for "Rent to Own" homes because I was sure there was no way I could afford one. The aftermath of a car accident several years ago was still negatively affecting my credit, so I didn't think my application would be approved. But Rob and Kristi's listing really caught my eye - and once I read their testimonials, I felt comfortable enough to at least go and look at the house. The moment I met Rob, I could tell that I had finally found a landlord with heart and integrity. And the move-in investment and rent were so much more reasonable that I had imagined! Mike and Melisa had just moved back to Oregon
and where looking to settle down and start raising a family
together. They also wanted to purchase their own home since they
had watched several of their friends purchase a home and begin
growing their families. Most importantly, their friends had
begun to build personal wealth and a solid retirement plan, by
owning their own homes.
Mike and Melisa had a few credit issues so
they felt like they where “STUCK” throwing their hard earned
money down the drain each month paying straight rent.
Still, they dreamed of owing their own home,
and frequently looked at houses for sale. They had heard of
Rent-To-Own programs, or Lease Option programs, but each time
they called on an ad, they where turned down by investors who
were hard to work with, or had high down payment requirements.

“When we first spoke to Rob on the phone, we
knew we where dealing with someone who really cared about our
situation, and wanted to help us. He spend a good half hour
talking to us, and explaining exactly how his company could help
us achieve our goal of owning our own home!
We set up an appointment to meet Rob at the
house, and when we met him in person, the house was beautiful,
and exactly as he promised! After spending some time in person
with Rob, you can really tell he runs his business with a high
level of integrity and ethics - something that is very rare in
the real estate industry, and we felt lucky that we had picked
up the phone and called him!
We quickly took action and started the
application process. A few days later Rob called us and informed
us we had qualified for the house!
To top of this great service, Rob’s wife
Kristi, who works all day as a teacher, drove down (a 1 hour
drive from Portland) on a Friday night to meet us at the house.
She then explained all the contracts in detail, and made sure
that all of our questions where answered and we knew exactly
what we were signing!
We truly feel blessed to have found Rob and
Kristi, and look forward to working with them towards owning our
own home!"

Q: Why did you choose to
do business with my company VS my many competitors?
A: Initially, I chose KR
because of the things you didn't do that competing firms did.
For instance, there are firms that advertise on street corners
with the sign written in crayon stating "My Daddy Buys Homes."
or "We Take Foreclosures." Instead of a silly mass-market
approach, you seem to have an intelligent selective basis for
marketing (such as the postcard I received which invited me to
contact Nancy Hassen if I were interested). My contact with KR
quickly lead me to an intelligent one-on-one presentation during
which time I got to know the company and its values. I also
learned you have a lengthy background in
the construction field, which told me you were not a 'fly by
night' operation. Lastly, I'm good with web research, and did
not find anyone posting of complaints about your company
anywhere on the Internet. This in in self is not true for your
competitors. I also asked others
extensively about your company. Again, no negative were found.
I asked for, and was given, referrals. These were also
supportive of your good business practices.
What is your overall feeling about my team?
Nancy Hassen, your
Acquisitions Manager, was the first person I met with. She
introduced me to your two key values: ethics and integrity.
Although these are words that can be used by any business to
sound good, I have been careful to watch how you do your
business and have been pleased to see these values appear to
genuinely matter to you. You have kept your word whether you
have verbally promised something or are following through on a
written agreement. That made a big impression on me.
What is your overall feeling about my company?
My feeling about your
company is that you have a growing company dedicated to living
out its ideals of performing with a high sense of ethics and
integrity while making money for your investors, sellers, and
buyers. Please understand I do not think your company is
perfect. No one is. But I do believe you mean well and are
seriously striving to do right by both your investors and
sellers and buyers. With me, you have done whatever you could
to make things happen when you said they would. I have received
money on time (actually, early according to the date on paper),
have had my phone calls returned promptly, and have received
e-mailed answers to my questions in usually under an hour (often
well under that). I do not believe you could be taking your
business seriously or trying to live up to your ideals of good
ethics and moral integrity and still have such a good record
over the long-term. I see
these qualities as motivating you to do your best work. That
would only happen if you believed in your values. Describe one
or two benefits that you have gotten from us that you value the
most?
Explain specifically what
you've gotten out of them.
First, one of the greatest
benefits is "cold card cash." You gave me the down payment when
you said you would. This has allowed me to make an offer on a
condo and thus allowed me to move forward in my own life. The
way you honored your word is letting me finally purchase my own
place. This is what my mom wanted when she let me inherit the
house. If you had been an unethical company and had not given me
the money when it was owed, not only would I have been hurt, but
also you would have destroyed the dream of a caring woman you
never knew, my mom.
Second, I am continuing to
count on the coming monies to further build my life in the
future. Your words and actions have given me a good foundation
to trust our interactions will continue to be good and ethical
ones. I have wanted this to be a win-win scenario all around.
I have done whatever I can to promote that, and I am encouraged
that your company will continue to honor the concepts of
integrity and ethics until our association is concluded. I am
very pleased to have found your company. My experience has been
that finding people who do what they say is truly rare. I'm
delight to have found those unique qualities alive and strong at
